ABOUT SUPERCRITICAL

Discover the team behind the world’s first high-pressure, efficient electrolyser for the production of hydrogen energy.

View the team

No individual will solve the climate crisis.

We embrace partnerships and collaboration within our team and externally. We believe that bringing brilliant minds together in an innovation conducive environment will catalyse the world’s path to net zero.

A culture built on transparency and trust across the team is the foundation for accelerated problem solving.

Scientist working in the lab

No one has ever done what we’re doing.

We bring together impassioned individuals from all sorts of diverse backgrounds, disciplines and industries to enable us to think differently and challenge one another. Progress is never linear. When you’re developing something completely novel, things will not always go to plan.

We cannot fail so long as we learn and take that learning forward to our next attempt. We embrace the challenges and we celebrate success.

We’re thinkers.

We’re enablers.

We’re problem solvers.

We’re Supercritical.

We are on a mission to create pioneering hydrogen technology that enables industry to transition beyond fossil fuels.

What membrane does Supercritical use?

Supercritical does not use a membrane in its proprietary electrolyser.

Supercritical
Does the Supercritical electrolyser use Ceramic components?

Ceramic components are used as ancillary components in the construction of the electrolyser cell but are not core to the cell operation.

Supercritical
Does the Supercritical electrolyser use PFAS (Forever Chemicals)?

We do not use Perfluoroalkyl or Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) in our core electrolyser.

Note PFAS are often found in membranes of other electrolyser technologies.

Supercritical
What is your criteria for the selection of electrolytes and catalysts?

Electrolyte composition and concentration will be down-selected based on solubility, ionic conductivity and materials of construction compatibility.  Catalysts will be selected based on activity, cost and stability/longevity.

Supercritical
What is the largest stack/module size that can be achieved?

Supercritical’s electrolyser module (also known as a stack) is flexible on the number of cells that can be built into it. We are currently optimising for performance, cost and durability to determine the first commercial scale, this will also depend on feedback on preferred functionality from our industrial partners. It is anticipated that each module will scale to hundreds of kW and then can be used in multi-module arrays.
